The Tinton Falls EMS, originally the New Shrewsbury First-Aid Squad, was established and founded in November 1955, to provide emergency medical services to the borough, with a total call volume of 160 in 1956. The borough was later renamed Tinton Falls in 1975, and the EMS was renamed to match the Borough, becoming Tinton Falls EMS. The initial squad house was a modified chicken coop, which was later renovated in 1994 to the current location at 46 Old Mill Road, Tinton Falls EMS North. A second squad, Tinton Falls EMS South, was formed in March 1994 and took occupancy of its new building at 1 Volunteer Way in 1995, and has since closed in 2023, leaving Tinton Falls EMS North as the only volunteer squad to cover the north and the south.
